Meditation on Womanhood

Womanhood is me;
Womanhood is you.
Womanhood is the maiden and mother
and crone;
It’s the child and lover
and bone woman.
It’s all the composite,
disparate
parts of ourselves
coming together as one—
The parts that society says
don’t belong to us yet,
The parts that society says
don’t belong to us anymore,
The parts that society says
have never belonged to us
and never could
because they never should.
Womanhood
is being whole with our parts
because we have come to know
they are what makes us whole.
